SHORTS TWO: OUT OF THE BOX
Maintaining the festival’s international flavor with work from Germany, Colombia, Croatia, Sweden and Brazil, Out of the Box gathers filmmakers who seek to push beyond accepted boundaries of form and subject, and films with themes ranging from rats to losing your virginity, to consistently spectacular effect. Bert and Bertie’s Phobias
imagines what might happen if you put a group of raging neurotics in a room together, while Joanna Quinn’s hilarious Family Ties: Dreams and Desires
tells a story of wedding plans gone horribly awry. Other films take inspiration from arts and letters, with Simon Bogojevic-Narath’s Leviathan
transforming Hobbes’ seminal work of political philosophy into cutting-edge animation and Guilherme Marconde’s Tyger
offering a fresh and arresting take on William Blake’s beloved poem.
